Hillary Clinton and Vinod Gupta

Benefactor Vinod Gupta sued over Clinton trips

Washington: A longtime Indian-born Clinton benefactor used corporate jets to fly the former president and Hillary Rodham Clinton on business, personal and campaign trips that a lawsuit brands as wasteful company spending.

The supporter, Vinod Gupta, also secured contracts worth more than $3 million (Dh11 million) for Bill Clinton to provide consulting services to Gupta’s company, infoUSA, from 2003 through 2008, according to the suit.

Since 2002, Gupta spent $900,000 (Dh3.3 million) flying the former president to international locations on presidential foundation business and flying Hillary Clinton, a Democratic senator from New York, to political events.

Gupta has said in interviews that he is from the village of Rampur, in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. He attended the Indian Institute of Technology, and moved to the United States in the late 1960s.

Suit Advances Against Clinton Supporter

A Delaware judge has refused to dismiss a shareholder lawsuit alleging that the chief executive of data company InfoUSA Inc. misspent millions of dollars of corporate money, some of it on Bill and Hillary Clinton.

In a 79-page opinion handed down Monday, Chancellor William Chandler III dismissed some shareholder claims but kept others, including allegations that InfoUSA CEO Vinod Gupta tried to buy the company on the cheap in a sham going-private transaction in 2005.

Chandler refused to dismiss claims asserting that Gupta improperly awarded 100,000 share options to Bill Clinton without board approval, and that the company paid Gupta millions of dollars for personal expenses including jet travel, homes, a yacht and a collection of luxury automobiles that, in the judge’s words, "would leave James Bond green with envy."

Gupta did not immediately return a telephone message and e-mail seeking comment on the judge’s ruling.

In a statement, spokesman Elliott Sloane said company officials have not had an opportunity to review the entire ruling but are pleased that Chandler agreed to dismiss many of the allegations.

"With respect to what remains, the court has held that plaintiffs must now establish that their allegations have a basis in fact," Sloane said. "We firmly believe we will be completely vindicated as the legal process unfolds."

Are Hillary’s Poll Numbers Questionable?

The media are continuing their relentless drum beat of national opinion polls, most showing Hillary Clinton with a solid lead over her nearest opponent. Surely, then, the coronation of Hillary as the Democratic Party’s nominee is all but complete, and anyone who supports another candidate might as well throw in the towel months before the first primary - right?

Well, maybe not. First, there are reasons to cast a skeptical eye toward at least some of these polls. As I mentioned in an earlier post, Rupert Murdoch organized a fundraiser for Hillary Clinton, and I’ve noticed that his FOX News polls sometimes give Hillary a considerably larger lead than other polls. You might think CNN is a safer bet, but CNN has contracted their polling to infoUSA’s Opinion Research. infoUSA is run by Vinod Gupta, an ardent Clinton supporter who infuriated his own shareholders by giving Bill Clinton millions of dollars of infoUSA’s money in the form of trips to Acapulco and generous “consulting fees”. Trusting a CNN/InfoUSA poll to tell you about Hillary Clinton’s popularity seems a lot like trusting a (Republican-activist-run) Diebold voting machine to tell you whether George W. Bush just won a close election.

Now, I’m not willing to say that all of the national polls are biased - the overall picture they paint might be roughly accurate. But the bigger question to me is whether these national polls are even remotely relevant to predicting the outcome of the nomination. Right now all of the candidates are focusing intensely on a few early voting states - namely Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada, and South Carolina. And in these states the race is very tight. A recent poll in all-important Iowa suggests a three-way tie for the lead. And recent polls have suggested a tie between Obama and Clinton in New Hampshire, and a come-from-behind lead for Obama in South Carolina.

Thus, the situation in the only states where the candidates have truly presented themselves to the voters contrasts sharply with the media’s depiction of Hillary Clinton as the dominant frontrunner. Surely, many in the media must realize that national polls are mainly just registering prior name recognition, and yet they keep slapping us with the same red herring.

Is Hillary Using Her Pollster Friend to Undercut a News Story?

Just yesterday, an article was released that talked about many Democratic leaders who secretly fear that Hillary Clinton is not electable.  In anonymous interviews with over 40 Democratic leaders, people worried that Hillary would not win or that those who were on the ticket with her would not win.

Well, what do you know!  A new poll comes out today saying that a large percentage of Democrats believe that Hillary is the most electable in the field.

The kicker though is that this poll is by the freakin’ Opinion Research group!  Clinton’s friend Vinod Gupta runs this polling company and has deep ties to the Clintons.  He is also actively campaigning for Hillary.

Is it just coincidence that they release this polling data right after that  major news article about Clinton’s electability?

Moreover, Hillary is trying to fool people because Democrats perceiving Clinton to be the most electable does not mean she is most electable.

The Clintons Sold Out America

In 2004, two powerful members of the U.S. Senate instituted something called the India Caucus. New York Sen. Hillary Clinton and Texas Sen. John Cornyn put together an alliance giving special status to foreign interests including what appears to be sale of U.S. visas (student and work) in exchange for favors, campaign contributions, and God only knows what else.

The Senate India Caucus quickly signed 32 members of the Senate. The 2007 110th congress has a total of 37 senators in that caucus, including 18 Democrats, and 19 Republicans. In the House, 176 congressmen belong to the India Caucus, 115 Democrats and 61 Republicans including my own 11th District Rep. Phil Gingrey, R-Ga. I had no idea West Georgia had such a vested interest in India or its needs.

This association and Gingrey’s vote in favor of CAFTA suggests whose interests far too many Democrats and Republicans now represent and it rarely includes their district or America’s long term future.

In 2006, the New York Daily News reported Bill and Hillary Clinton’s financial statement including their associations with Indian government and American business interests.

During the Clinton and Bush administrations encouraged the corporate transference of high tech jobs to India and elsewhere. Meanwhile, the U.S. visa went on sale to the highest foreign bidders. It appears India won. Hundreds of thousands of U.S. H-1B visas have gone to Indian foreign nationals.

Without question it is a corporate inspired replacement of Americans, including workers on all ends of the spectrum.

Hillary Gupta II

Database company InfoUSA, under fire from a shareholder lawsuit for the millions paid to the Clintons, is pushing its tentacles deeper into the bowels of the Democratic Party.

Nancy Pelosi’s son, Paul Pelosi Jr., was hired by InfoUSA four weeks after she ascended to the House speakership. He is paid $180,000 a year as senior vice president for strategic planning.

The gravity of his senior management job is suggested by the fact that he is holding down another full-time job as a loan officer. An investigation by NewsMax discloses that Mr. Pelosi is a "trophy" InfoUSA chief Vinod Gupta hauls out to impress.

Mr. Gupta knows how to buy influence and reap the business rewards of being close to power.

InfoUSA has paid at least $2.1 million to Bill in consulting fees and promises $1.2 million more. Gupta donated $2 million to Hillary’s national millennium celebration and spent at least $900,000 to ferry Bill and Hillary in a corporate jet. There was $1 million to the Clinton library and $200,000 raised for Hillary’s 2000 Senate campaign.

The corrupting politics always in evidence around the Clintons has Gupta’s firm recently buying Opinion Research Corporation, which now is the polling operation for CNN. Just in time for Hillary’s presidential bid.

If America’s voters have a shred of dignity, they won’t once again allow the moral offensiveness of the Clinton empire to befoul the White House.

The Clintons are SOOOO Currupt!

Remember when the Democrats (Nancy Pelosi) wanted to "drain the swamps" from corruption?

When Nancy Pelosi was elected Speaker of the House of Representatives, she promised to change things — to enact serious, and long overdue, ethical reforms — to stop the growing trend of legislators and their families accepting gifts, trips, and jobs from lobbyists and corporations.

Well, some things never change.

Several days ago, Newsmax.com disclosed that in February, shortly after his mother became the first woman speaker, Paul Pelosi Jr., was hired by InfoUSA for $180,000 a year as its vice president for Strategic Planning. Pelosi also kept his other full-time day job as a mortgage loan officer for Countrywide Loans in California. And, unlike all of the other InfoUSA employees, he did not report to work at the company’s headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska.

InfoUSA is the same company that has been cited by the New York Times for creating marketing lists that were used by con artists to fleece vulnerable elderly people. The lists had provocative names and offered the names of elderly people with cancer, elderly people with Alzheimer’s and gamblers over 55 years of age who think their luck will change. After purchasing the lists, the con artists would call and convince the elderly person that they had actually ordered an expensive item. Once they received the victim’s financial information, they often emptied their bank accounts, leaving many people penniless. Some of InfoUSA’s internal e-mails suggest that company employees were aware that several of the companies they sold the lists to were under investigation.

Nope, it doesn’t stop at Pelosi either:

And InfoUSA is also the same company that Bill Clinton works for as a consultant, and for which the former president was paid $3.3 million over the past five years. In addition, the Clintons got $900,000 worth of free travel.

[…]The chairman of InfoUSA, Vin Gupta, is a large donor to Democratic candidates. Minority shareholders have questioned his payments to Bill Clinton and his gifts of free travel to Hillary. The shareholders claim that Gupta has been improperly using corporate resources to further his own political goals. Gupta gave over $1 million to the Clinton Library and $2 million towards Hillary Clinton’s $16 million millennium New Years’ Eve Party.

So, there’s no question that Gupta likes to be close to the powerful. He’s stayed in the Lincoln bedroom and hosted the Clintons on a $146,000 vacation trip to Acapulco on his corporate jet. Lately, Pelosi’s son has been accompanying Gupta on his jet. He claims that it’s been strictly business and is “nothing like the Clinton situation.”

Keep moving along - nothing to see here.

InfoUSA’s Vinod Gupta Bows Out of Hillary Fundraiser

Embattled businessman Vinod Gupta is bowing out of Thursday night’s fundraiser for Hillary Clinton – even though he is the vice chairman of the event.

Gupta is evidently seeking to keep a low profile following revelations about his financial links to Bill and Hillary Clinton.

But Gupta simply told the New York Post: "I’ve got other things to do.”

Clinton’s and Vinod Gupta

Vinod Gupta is the head of InfoUSA, a database company. Under Gupta’s leadership, the company has showered money on Bill and Hillary Clinton. In fact, as Ronald Kessler at NewsMax notes, Gupta caused InfoUSA to pay former president Clinton $2.1 million in "consulting fees" since he left the White House, with another $1.2 million promised. Gupta reportedly has also spent roughly $1 million of company funds to provide corporate jet flights for the Clintons.

The company now faces a shareholder lawsuit alleging that Gupta is appropriating company funds for personal use and his political pet projects. According to the Weekly Standard’s Scrapbook, one of Gupta’s pet personnel projects is a yacht staffed by an all female crew. No wonder Gupta and Bill Clinton get along so well.

Now, Kessler reports that InfoUSA has placed Speaker Pelosi’s son, Paul Pelosi Jr., on its payroll even though he has no experience in the company’s main business activities. According to Kessler’s report, Paul Pelosi has been brought on board (the company, not the yacht as far as we know) as a Senior Vice President. His salary is $180,000. The hiring occurred a few weeks after Nancy Pelosi became House Speaker.

Even as he holds this position with Gupta’s company, Paul Pelosi continues another full-time job, as a home loan officer at Countrywide Home Loans in San Mateo, California. Although InfoUSA is based in Omaha, Pelosi says he reports to a small InfoUSA office in San Mateo.
