Proving that he’s just as adept at stuffing an election candidate’s coffers as he is at stuffing his own socks, Sandy Berger hosted an "almost secret" Washington fund-raiser for a recently retired three-star vice admiral last night.

 Vice Adm. Joseph Sestak Jr, as the Village People would say, is "In the Navy".

And when you want to take an Able Danger Congressman Curt Weldon down, what better way than to send in the Navy?

Berger, dubbed "Sandy Burglar" by radio meister Rush Limbaugh, gained notoriety for trying to stuff classified documents into his socks and other attire. The man, who served as President Bill Clinton’s second-term national security adviser, pleaded guilty last year to removing classified material from the National Archives. He originally claimed it was an "honest mistake", but later owned up that he took the terrorism documents by hiding them, schoolboy fashion in his jacket–then cut some of them up with scissors.

The almost-secret fundraiser Berger hosted for Navy Man Sestak Jr. was revealed in a story by the Delaware County Daily Times.

"As a general rule, campaigns don’t comment on fund-raisers or people who hold them," said Sestak’s campaign chairman, Myles Duffy.

"I don’t know why this fund-raiser is so secretive–other than the fact that it is a fund-raiser hosted by a convicted felon, a man convicted of destroying information dealing with pre-9/11 intelligence," said Russ Caso, Weldon’s chief of staff.

Berger’s bungled sleuthing, which was deemed a misdemeanor that came complete with a $50,000 fine, 100 hours of community service and two years of probation, should have eared him a movie stint. Instead, he ended up as an adviser with two other Clintonistas on ABC’s hit show Commander in Chief. .

"What do they have to hide about this?" Caso asked. "I know what they have to hide: it’s an embarrassment."

In Berger’s real life, non-televised efforts on behalf of Sestak, everyone’s in on the act.

Sestak’s campaign, which has raised more than $150,000 since its Feb. 2 launch, includes about $50,000 that was raised with the help of sometimes thespian Senator John Kerry.

I’m convinced that the downing of Flight TWA 800 was brought down with a terrorist shoulder fired missle. And I feel confident the informed Americans would feel the same. I think it was covered up because the Clinton’s did not want to deal with the terrorism issue. They wanted to kick the can down the road and not tackle this problem. I encourage you to read about this tragidy to form your own opinion and not accept the media’s version.

 "Throughout all of this, they have ignored and tried to discredit more than 100 eyewitnesses who saw a streak, or fireworks rise from the surface and impact Flight 800," he said.

Wire’s case is a perfect example of this bias, contends Donaldson, who went with the Pennsylvania man back to Long Island to take a photograph of the view and analyze it.

Donaldson said what he created is nothing like the CIA described in its now-discredited video that featured a distorted version of Wire’s testimony.

Wire, according to his testimony to the FBI, was looking south-southwest toward the beach. At approximately 8:30 p.m. he saw a white light traveling skyward from the ground at approximately a 40 degree angle. He described it as a white light that sparkled and thought it was some type of fireworks.

Wire stated the light "zigzagged" as it traveled upward and at the apex of its travel, it "arched over" and disappeared from view. He estimated the light was in view for about 15 seconds and its speed was consistent with normal fireworks.

The CIA video contended that what the witnesses saw was "a Boeing 747 in various stages of crippled flight." The video climaxed with an animation purporting to show the nose of the aircraft blew off from an internal explosion.

TWA Flight 800 then allegedly "pitched up abruptly and climbed several thousand feet from its last recorded altitude of about 13,800 feet to a maximum altitude of about 17,000 feet." The CIA video claimed this was what the eyewitnesses had seen – not missiles, but a rocketing, noseless 747 trailing fire.

Support for Sen. Hillary Clinton’s re-election bid has suddenly plunged precipitously, with her lead over GOP challenger, former Yonkers Mayor John Spencer, dropping by 10 points, according to the latest Zogby poll.

In Zogby’s January survey, Clinton led Spencer among New Yorkers surveyed by a whopping 31 points, 61 percent to 30 percent. Quinnipiac and Marist College surveys taken in the intervening months have echoed that result.

But in a Zogby poll released Monday, her lead had suddenly plummeted to 21 points, showing her with 54 percent to Spencer’s 33 percent.

Laura Bush is so modest that she doesn’t even watch herself on television, says Ron Kessler, author of the fast-selling book, "Laura Bush: An Intimate Portrait of the First Lady." Appearing on the "O’Reilly Factor" Tuesday night, Kessler said that Bush’s popularity is due to the fact that she comes across as "humble, as modest, as not a hypocrite the way Hillary (Rodham Clinton) was." Clinton, he recalled "would make up these stories and claim to be compassionate, and then she fired the White House usher because he returned a call from Barbara Bush." He added that he thinks people sense that about Laura, "and thank God they do." Asked by guest host John Kasich if he knew how Bush feels about her Clinton, Kessler said "She’s a very positive person. She chooses to look at life in a positive way and she hardly ever says anything bad about anybody, even with her closest friends. But she was dismayed about the way Hillary had decorated the White House — it was gaudy in her opinion."

Fortunately for her, John Kerry and John Edwards were equally complicit in backing the war at its inception. And Howard Dean was always too far off the deep end in opposing it. But Al Gore, who has no stain of support for the war to overcome and is the custom-designed candidate for the issues of energy and climate change, could mount a serious challenge to Hillary Clinton.

Mrs. Clinton is trying to move to the Left on anything and everything but the war. Her comparison of illegal aliens she once said she “abhorred” to Jesus and her charge that Bush is one of our history’s worst presidents reflect her concern that she may have left the Left behind in her move to the center. 

Now she is in a fix. If she retreats and retracts her support for the war, she will become the ultimate weather vane, shifting with the political wind. If she adopts a pro-peace posture, she undoes all of her work to position herself as a hawkish female, able to overcome the stereotypes that hamper women who wish to be commanders in chief.

But if she stays in the center as the Democratic Party falls off to the Left, she could find herself with a deadly primary challenge from her husband’s former running mate.

New Yorkers won’t forget the shameful attack on members of the Albany Police Department honor guard, who were cursed at and spat on by participants in the state Democratic Party convention in 2000. It’s all of a piece. To quote a certain now-quiet Democrat senator from New York pandering to her black constituents:

 "And you know what I am talkin’ about."
