How to deal with Hillary Clinton

Great points here…

Republicans should learn from what has happened to the Democrats over the last five years. Indulging and publicly displaying their hatred of President Bush–which is based more on cultural and personality issues than policies–has been a disaster for the Democrats. Moreover, the reality, in my view, is that Mrs. Clinton is not an especially good politician. This is due in part to the fact that she rubs a great many people the wrong way. That will continue whether the Republicans point out her personality shortcomings or not.

It seems that Democrats are increasingly grasping the fact that Mrs. Clinton would be a weak general election candidate; recent word is that many Democrats are turning to former Virginia Governor Mark Warner as an alternative. This reminds me of when the Democrats fled to John Kerry’s banner en masse after Howard Dean’s Iowa scream. One difference, though, is that 90% of Americans (including me) couldn’t pick Warner out of a lineup.

There has been a lot of turmoil inside the Democratic Party lately. My guess is that the turmoil will only increase as more and more Democrats realize that Hillary is not electable. All the more reason for Republicans to concentrate on her politics, not her personality.
